10507293

THE SYNOPSIS :

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

THE REVIEW

Initially I thought this book would be nothing more than a fairy tale romance and I`m not huge on that stuff. I picked it up because everybody was reading it and talking about it online. I practically wanted to be a part of the conversation. Anyway, my sister didn't like the book very much- but I don't pick books based on other people's opinions. I thought of never reading this book but started it yesterday morning at stayed up till 2:am . I couldn't put the book down.

It wasn't a sloppy romance. If you ignore the bad choice of names ( Maxon was awesome. Loved it. but not America Singer and a girl names Farmer and Tuesday) .

I am not in love with any of the characters, but I liked how the first book ended. I would've written an e-mail to the author if America hadn't done what she did. Anyhoo Good book, no real passion in the kisses, liked the way the story didn't focus only on the contest for the wife of the prince called THE SELECTION but also on Maxon, the prince's problems and daily struggles.

There is a shocker as you turn pages, not gonna say what but good read.

Quick one if you stick to your seat and do nothing else but read.

FAVORITE  QUOTES/ LINES

“It's always the fear of looking stupid that stops you from being awesome.”

“You get confused by crying women, I get confused by walks with princes.”
