BOOK REVIEW 28 - THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, CITY OF BONES by CASSANDRA CLARE.

THE SYNOPSIS : When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

THE REVIEW : I heard about this book after I watched the movie. I absolutely loved the movie- although some people loathe it.

The movie was playing on TV while I was going through channels and I cried during the end. I`ve watched the movie almost 10 times now. Raise your hand if you crush on Jace Wayland!

Coming to the book- I liked it. I usually hate vampires, I do. Vampires, werewolves - they just don't work out for me. But this book didn't make them sound boring. If you think about it, it is a simple book about the search for a cup. But the story is so well written. The plots, twists, the characters, the descriptions.

The author has described 'smells' and 'aromas' of every person and surrounding. Every time it's different but it's something the reader might get bored of.

Jace Wayland is my favorite character after Miles Archer (from the book Ugly love) and Noah (from I`ll give you the sun). He is witty and he simply loves himself and is a good kisser. I know he is fictional, so you can imagine what a good book boyfriend he is.

Valentine and Luke - The villain the Hero....kinda scene here. They both are exceptional well-created personas ( I hope I`m using the right word here).

I don't much to say about this 500 pages book...surprisingly.

I have highlighted a lot of lines in the book though, most are Jace Wayland's lines. He is the guy to make you laugh but the last three chapters makes your heart bleed for him.

My favorite page is page 380-381. I`ve permanently bookmarked that page.

And my favorite quote would be when Jace says, "my one true love remains myself".

Read the book, it isn't that bad...not too boring. It is an open door to someone else's crazy imagination but at the same time the imagination that sold million copies.

In case anybody is wondering...No! I did not like the TV series. The first episode totally put me off. But I will admit that the movie missed out a lot of parts and did not go according to the book, I don't know why authors do that.

THE MOVIE TRAILER - THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS- CITY OF BONES.

THE TV SHOW : SHADOWHUNTERS.

Few stills from the first episode. And the trailer in case you weren't informed.

MY FAVORITE QUOTES/ LINES:

Where there is feeling that is not requited, said Hodge, "there is an imbalance of power".

“Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?'
Jace said, "Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself."
..."At least," she said, "you don't have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland."
"Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting.”

“It means 'Shadowhunters: Looking Better in Black Than the Widows of our Enemies Since 1234'.”

BOOK REVIEW 27 : I`LL GIVE YOU THE SUN by JANDY NELSON

THE SYNOPSIS :

A brilliant, luminous story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, David Levithan, and Rainbow Rowell

Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah's story to tell. The later years are Jude's. What the twins don't realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

This radiant novel from the acclaimed, award-winning author of The Sky Is Everywhere will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once

THE REVIEW :

There were tears in my eyes by the time I finished the book. A mix of both happy and sad tears. Happy because I read a wonderful book. Around 415 pages of awesomeness. Sad tears because I took so long to read it. The moment people started talking about this beauty I knew I had to have it and see what's all the hype about. But with classes and activities in my way, I barely found time to read. It took me sooooooo long to really get a chance to sit one whole day only reading. I took a day off and held on to the book. I finished it and was in awe (still am) of the way this author writes. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book by Jandy Nelson. Obviously I`m going to write to the author as well.

Coming to the book - in detail- :

The Characters - Noah. He is my personal favorite. He is funny, sweet and simply awesome.
These twins love art and everything about it.

Jude - Noah's twin sister. She is intense. As the book progresses and you finally understand the lies and the truths, you are left speechless and it's near impossible to choose sides.
Mother & Father : Normally family, extra-ordinary parents.
Brian - OH, how I love this guy in the beginning and then hate him. Wanna cut his head of. Tear the page where his name is written. But then, love him again and back to the hating phase. Like a tennis match.

Oscar - Don't even get me started. Loved this character! Awesome work on this one Jandy!

Guillermo or G- Wonderfully portrayed!

The others - Well written and just awesome.

You know, reading this book was like watching a movie in my head. I got to see them act, hear them speak and watch them laugh and cry, get wasted and well....not. It's usually like that with every book but this one was different . It's a personal favorite which I totally recommend but won't lend. To be specific : Page 88 is my go to page to make me smile. I dog-eared the page! Yes, I`m ashamed of that because I own quite a good number of bookmarks yet I went ahead and did that. This is book will make you wonder, smile, cry, laugh, feel things you think you are incapable of feeling. This book will bring out a side of you you never thought you had. A side which feels so deeply for characters you wish they were real and at the same time wishing they weren't. Sometimes people obsess over books that it becomes the MOST READ and I`m grateful to those because of whom I learnt about this book.

I have never read a story about twins before. I enjoy reading LGBT books because I believe I can understand a new person every time I open a book of a different genre.

I recommend this book and DO NOT POST PONE READING IT `CAUSE OF THE SIZE. JUST JUMP RIGHT IN AND DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU ARE DONE READING THE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS.

FAVORITE QUOTES / LINES

“Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.”

“I gave up practically the whole world for you,” I tell him, walking through the front door of my own love story. “The sun, stars, ocean, trees, everything, I gave it all up for you.”

“People die, I think, but your relationship with them doesn't. It continues and is ever-changing."

“Sometimes you think you know things, know things very deeply, only to realize you don’t know a damn thing.”

“Reality is crushing. The world is a wrong-sized shoe. How can anyone stand it?”

AND MANY MORE..

ACCORDING TO BUSTLE :

Prepare yourself: Female YA powerhouses are joining forces. Gossip Girlscribe Natalie Krinsky has signed on to write the script for Jandy Nelson's I'll Give You The Sun movie adaptation. But wait, there's more: Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan, who were behind the adaptation of Gayle Foreman's If I Stay, will produce.
Warner Bros. optioned the movie rights back in June, as I'll Give You The Sunwas picking up major buzz and critical acclaim prior to its release in September. The book did not disappoint. Nelson's novel is a twin and family relationship story at its heart, but it also intricately explores themes of art, fate, and identity, often with the artwork replacing some of the inner dialogue.

BOOK REVIEW 26: DIVERGENT by VERONICA ROTH

13335037

THE SYNOPSIS :

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

THE REVIEW :

If you have watched the movie first, you might find the book boring. I did.
The end in the book and movie are very different.

I don't understand what all the hype is about this book! I mean, yes- well written, amazing characters. FOUR is so wow! (in the movie and book) but because I had high expectations regarding the book after watching Divergent and Insurgent, I was disappointed.

Not my favorite.

You find it different, might even shelf it as 'Favorite'. This book got a lot of praise so...I don't know but according to me it wasn't that great. Creative-surely.

FAVORITE QUOTES/ LINES

“We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.”

“Fear doesn't shut you down; it wakes you up”

THERE IS MORE...!!

THE MOVIE -

The movie was amazing!!! I watched it over and over again. Both the parts. I can never get tired of it,

BOOK REVIEW 25 : THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by JOHN GREEN

11870085

THE SYNOPSIS:

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love

THE REVIEW

So may people kept talking about this book- many still do. Many readers believe it's a masterpiece and it's an amazing work of literature. But every reader has a different opinion and this one is mine. So, don't hate please.

It took me a lot of time to finish this book because I was reading two novels at a time.

Note: Don't do that. Read one at a time, friend.

I wanted to know what made people cry and feel so bad about this book. Well, I watched the movie first and liked it. It didn't really ruin the book.

About the book-

Nice. Augustus Waters is such a romantic. The last page of the book is my fav. Hazel was also right here and there when she didn't wanna get too close.

Issac, brightens the mood. He really does even though he is blind.

So, don't expect too much if you aren't a sucker for teenage romance accompanied by sadness.

John Green threw in some really huge words, which I didn't understand so that kinda put me off mood. But that's how he writes.

FAVORITE QUOTES/ LINES

"Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.

“As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.”

“What a slut time is. She screws everybody.”

“Oh, I wouldn't mind, Hazel Grace. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.”

THE MOVIE :

I don't think it's neccessary to talk about this movie because only a person living under a rock wouldn't know what a blockbuster this was and a huge inspiration and so many other things to teens and viewers in general.

BOOK REVIEW 24 - HOLD ME CLOSER by DAVID LEVITHAN #2 Will Grayson, Will Grayson

22736613

SYNOPSIS:

It’s Tiny Cooper’s turn in the spotlight in this companion novel to New York Times bestseller Will Grayson, Will Grayson.

Jazz hands at the ready! Tiny Cooper (“the world’s largest person who is also really, really gay”) stole readers’ hearts when he was introduced to the world in the New York Times bestselling book Will Grayson, Will Grayson,co-authored by John Green and David Levithan. Now Tiny finally gets to tell his story—from his fabulous birth and childhood to his quest for true love and his infamous parade of ex-boyfriends—the way he always intended: as a musical! Filled with honesty, humor, and “big, lively, belty” musical numbers, the novel is told through the full script of the musical first introduced in Will Grayson, Will Grayson

THE REVIEW :

I couldn't put this book down. I enjoy reading LGBTQ books because it's a different genre all together and you get to understand how the character feels.

I loveeeeeeeee Tiny Cooper. Yes, he is fictional but if he existed I would want him to be my best friend. He is funny, cute and so honest. He doesn't hold back.

I am so proud of David Levithan! I enjoyed Will Grayson, Will Grayson, but I loved this one more. So innovative and beautiful. I am a sucker for rhyme scheme hence all the praise.

FAVORITE QUOTES/ LINES:

I loved every word, every sentence, everything about this book including the front and back cover. So I randomly picked a few quotes and lines which I thought you would like too.

“This should be the most homoerotically charged baseball dance number since “I Don't Dance” in High School Musical 2.”

“It’s always easy to blame other people for holding you back. But sometimes, the only person holding you back is . . . well . . . you.”

“LYNDA (TO TINY):
Look forward to the moment
when it falls apart.
Look forward to the
moment
when you must
rearrange your
heart.

It might feel like the
end of the world-
but it's the
beginning of your
art.”

"But no relationship should rely on you blocking out the world. The world will always get in.”

HAVE YOU READ THE FIRST BOOK?

I strongly recommend reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson first. I have already reviewed that masterpiece.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE GENRE :

Just do yourself a favor and buy the book.

BOOK REVIEW 23 - THE SELECTION by KIERA CASS

10507293

THE SYNOPSIS :

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

THE REVIEW

Initially I thought this book would be nothing more than a fairy tale romance and I`m not huge on that stuff. I picked it up because everybody was reading it and talking about it online. I practically wanted to be a part of the conversation. Anyway, my sister didn't like the book very much- but I don't pick books based on other people's opinions. I thought of never reading this book but started it yesterday morning at stayed up till 2:am . I couldn't put the book down.

It wasn't a sloppy romance. If you ignore the bad choice of names ( Maxon was awesome. Loved it. but not America Singer and a girl names Farmer and Tuesday) .

I am not in love with any of the characters, but I liked how the first book ended. I would've written an e-mail to the author if America hadn't done what she did. Anyhoo Good book, no real passion in the kisses, liked the way the story didn't focus only on the contest for the wife of the prince called THE SELECTION but also on Maxon, the prince's problems and daily struggles.

There is a shocker as you turn pages, not gonna say what but good read.

Quick one if you stick to your seat and do nothing else but read.

FAVORITE  QUOTES/ LINES

“It's always the fear of looking stupid that stops you from being awesome.”

“You get confused by crying women, I get confused by walks with princes.”
