BOOK REVIEW 19 - BACKLASH BY SARAH DARER LITTMAN

Backlash

THE SYNOPSISHe says: You're an awful person.
He says: What makes you think I would ever ask you out?
He says: The world would be a better place without you in it.

Lara just got told off on Facebook.

She thought that Christian liked her, that he was finally going to ask her to his school's homecoming dance. They've been talking online for weeks, so what's with the sudden change? And where does he get off saying horrible things on her wall? Even worse - are they true?

It's been a long time since Lara's felt this bad, this depressed, this ugly. She's worked really hard to become pretty and happy - and make new friends after what happened in middle school.

Bree used to be best friends with overweight, depressed Lara, but constantly listening to Lara's issues got to be too much. Secretly, Bree's glad Christian called Lara out. Lara's not nearly as amazing as people think. But no one realized just how far Christian's harsh comments would push Lara. Not even Bree.

As online life collides with real life, things spiral out of control, and not just for Lara. Because when the truth starts to come together, the backlash is even more devastating than anyone could have ever imagined
THE REVIEW:

I finished this book in a day-it was very gripping and thought provoking. Littman has done a good job putting forth the consequences of our actions –especially when we act without thinking. This is a book which will make you wonder how cruel and bitchy a friend can be,

I don’t want to give away any spoilers but the review will be incomplete with at least one. The book is told from the POV of four characters. Lara, being the protagonist. Her younger sister Sydney. Lara’s former best friend Bree and her brother Liam.
It’s refreshing to read different POVs because everybody has their own story and own problem to voice. All four teens are going through the same problems…similar, at least. Difficult parents-people who barely get them-and so on. But the way they deal with it all is completely different from one another.
I`m giving a lot away, but you must know this is a good quick read and is related to cyber bullying. The last five or so chapters is mentioned consistently what one mistake can do.
The author has made it clear –how real life and life online can collide and a massive impact it can have on not only one, but many lives.
It was a depressing read…not very, but it was but along with that it was an eye opener on how to pay close attention to those around you and how much you can hurt them by simply being self absorbed.
I don’t know why going to a therapist is considered as a bad thing…it equal to talking to a normal person about how you feel and what you think. Cyber bullying on the other hand is rapidly increasing and books like these can be good wake up calls for those who thinking posting about anything and everything is a matter of life and death and that “number of Likes” for a picture really matter more than what or rather who is in the picture.

MY FAVORITE LINES/QUOTES

Making sure this doesn’t happen to other people can help you put it behind you.
“It’s not the person you miss,” she says, “it’s what he gave you emotionally”.
No problem, big or small, gets solved by running away from it. When you make mistakes, the only way to face them is head-on.

Book Review 18: The Deal by Elle Kennedy (Book 1 in Off Campus series)

SYNOPSIS:

She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy...

Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice... even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.

...and it’s going to be oh so good.

All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn't take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn't going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

MY REVIEW:

I thought many things before-during- and after reading the book.

I liked the story line a lot, so I thought it would be a good love triangle kinda story. It was. It was fun to see Garrett jungle feelings and emotions. But it was really disturbing to read how they 'did it'. I won't go too much into detail but I will say that this book is suitable to be categorized under New Adult and suitable for anyone above the age of 18.

THE DEAL is the first book in the OFF CAMPUS series. Yup, there is one more and I do intend on reading it because it is about Logan, Garrett's best friend.

The book wasn't that bad....three stars out of five is good for me, I don't know what it means for you.

Garrett Graham-Captain of the hockey team. A total stud but something goes wrong which causes him to beg for Hannah's help. He has some secrets, some really disturbing problems and a dark past. Yet, he doesn't fail to impress you.

Hannah Wells- A talented young woman, working very hard for a scholarship. She also happens to be the girl who refuses to help Garrett get a good grade. But he doesn't fail to change her mind with a very tempting deal. She works part time and she too has secrets and a dark past.

The hockey champs won't fail to impress you in a chapter or two because each of them have a really cool dialogue to say.

The story goes on for a while and a reader might get bored after a particular chapter, but you will finish the book and only then find peace.

                                                    The Score (Off-Campus, #3)

BOOK REVIEW 17: #2 TORMENT - FALLEN SERIES by LAUREN KATE

SYNOPSIS:

Love never dies . . .
It took Lucinda an eternity to find her beloved angel, Daniel. But he waited for her. Now they are forced apart again, to protect Luce from the Outcasts - immortals who want her dead. During their separation, Luce learns about her mysterious past lives. But the more she discovers, the more she suspects Daniel is hiding something.
What if Daniel's version of the past isn't true?
Is it really their destiny to be together?
Or is Luce actually meant to be with someone else?
The thrilling sequel to the international bestseller, Fallen.

THE REVIEW:

One word: UPSET.

This book was so addictive. I read it for 9 hours straight and I must say that I kinda hate Luce, a little. Yes, the secrets and lies must be driving her crazy but that does not mean she should have done what she did (does that make sense?). I just finished the book and I`m still trying to recover.

I am on Team Daniel here. He made a truce, he is waging wars, he loves her no matter what color her hair is, he is always protecting her, ready to catch her every time she falls (his words not mine) and Luce only finds faults with him. I don't wanna give anything away, but this book made me so sad,  I almost cried (twice).

In this book, there is : a truce, new and old friendships, family meetings, a lot of heart ache, secrets, new places, glimpse of the past, appearances by the Announcers, they are a constant here.

Over all, I can't wait to but the third book just to see what's going to happen of Daniel and Luce's relationship.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK

"Breathtaking" (Shout)

"Twilight fans are gonna love this spook-tastic new book" (Top of the Pops)

"After reading Fallen, I just knew I had to read the book that followed. Torment was everything I expected it to be. It was as good as the first - packed with twice as much the suspense, action and love" (Gripped Into Books)
